For the first story here, I am going to tell you about the neighborhood cat "School".
When we got our third cat, the lovely Rose kitten, she would spend a lot of time staring out the window, watching as her housemates snared birds and chased squirrels. She must have wanted to experience the adventure and meet new cats. Then, one night I saw her meowing at the sliding glass door. There was another neighborhood cat, the black and white one I simply call "Oscar's girlfriend". She bolted away when she saw me. I assumed she wanted to meet the new kitty in town, but maybe they talking! Perhaps they were discussing a serious matter, like the number of birds in town, or the spider snack shortage!
The second day we let her out of the house. I experienced something magical. All the solitary, shy cats on the whole freaking street were on our fence. All were focused on Rose, who was stumbling across the fence. Could it be? Were they teaching Rose a valuable skill? Do animals do this?
Yes, they do.
The relationship between my darling kitty Oscar and Rose has always been rough. It's simple: Oscar hated the thought of a younger cat stealing all of my love in the house.
But Oscar was forgiving. Maybe he didn't want me to know this, but he was spotted teaching Rose how to kill birds! It was like a human school-Rose would watch, then help Oscar.
Since the cat lessons, I have learned that animals are not much different from us and will willingly help each other out.
